My vulvectomy surgery really shook up my life, and changed my normal in ways I never thought about. I am still finding my new normal. I'll be sharing my emotional and physical journey to my “new normal” in hopes that my being vulnerable and sharing this will help women on the same or similar journey as me.

About two years ago I started noticing that no one seemed to be listening to me, or at least not really hearing me. I mean like even close family, and friends. It got to a point that I was thinking multiple times a day “I don't know why I even bother to talk, text, or post anything!”

In my last blog I shared my VIN journey up to the day before my radical partial vulvectomy surgery. If you haven't read that blog post yet you can catch up with my story by reading it here. It has now been nine long weeks since my surgery. I'd like to share with you my healing journey over these past weeks. However, first I need to address two things before really getting into my story.

My battle with Vulvar Intraepithelial Neoplasia (VIN) began I believe around 2008, although I didn't have a clue that's what it was at the time. I actually just found out the beginning of September 2018 that was what I was dealing with. Since then I realized that I should share my personal journey with others to help bring more awareness to this disease, and also to let other women dealing with this issue know that they are not alone.

After publishing my first blog that shared a little about my personal healing journey, which included Reiki healing, I got some feed back that made me realize that I really needed to write my second blog about Reiki. More specifically about what Reiki is and what it isn't because I find that it really does confuse a lot of folks.
